Guest lecture at University of Twente

On the 26th of November, Xomnia gave a guest lecture at the University of Twente. We were invited to speak as part of the Information Services course, which is taught by Fons Wijnhoven.

The class got acquainted with both the theoretical and practical aspects of a recommender system designed by one of Xomnia's data scientists. During the lecture, the advantages and disadvantages of user-based as well as item-based recommenders were discussed from a theoretical viewpoint. Then the practical aspects were highlighted by looking at the implementation of the recommender system in an e-commerce environment.

We would like to thank University of Twente for inviting us, and all the students attending for an interesting discussion. We hope our lecture gave some insight into the possibilities data science can provide in the modern business world.
