Xomnia is a word combining the letter ‘X’ – the unknown – and “Omnia” – Latin for everything. Our team of data scientists and big data engineers are trained to find the undefined – X – in all the relevant data sources – Omnia. This unknown – X – is untapped business value. Combining the X and Omnia you get the Xomnia spirit. Eager, curious and dedicated people, who have the belief that the future is big data.
Over the last 5 years, International Bike Group (IBG) has become the leading omnichannel bicycle retailer in the Benelux and Scandinavia with full integration of e-commerce and physical experience centers. Operating under the names Fietsenwinkel.nl in Benelux and HelloRider in Scandinavia, IBG has experienced 70%+ annual growth rates last years, making it one of the fastest growing e-commerce companies of Europe. IBG is a data-driven organization and built a comprehensive data platform to collect data and support decision-making. In 2017, they even received the Dutch BI & Data Science Award, because – according to the jury – “IBG uses data to continuously improve and innovate, resulting in measurably better performance and higher growth”.
However, the data platform hadn’t kept up with the increasingly complex questions that are asked today (or next year). In order to add even more value, algorithms need to combine all kinds of different data sources – sometimes siloed off, or not properly structured. This raised the question: what would a future-proof platform look like? After gathering requirements internally, IBG turned to Xomnia to help answer this question. Together with their partner network, Xomnia provided the right level of expertise to make an informed decision on a) what architecture to use and b) which cloud platform to migrate to. In the following months, they continued to support IBG’s lead data engineer with designing and implementing the data platform.
